I build backend
systems, products
and ML applications.

I work across the stack - Python and FastAPI over PostgreSQL, React where the interface has to carry something complicated, and machine learning where a prediction has to hold up. The interesting part is usually the rule behind the feature: who gets access, what data a model is allowed to see, and what happens when an operation runs twice.

About

I am a software engineer focused on backend and full-stack development, with a strong interest in machine learning and AI systems.

I like building software where the details matter. Most of my work has been with Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL and React, alongside ML models, LLMs and data pipelines. I am particularly interested in the parts of engineering that sit behind the interface: how data moves through a system, how access is controlled, how a model gets its inputs, and how to make a result reproducible when it actually matters.

At Effective Risk Management I have worked on products involving risk assessment, disclosure analysis, third-party risk and digital learning. That work taught me to treat AI as one part of a system rather than the system itself. LLMs can classify and assist, but rules, validation, permissions and audit trails still need to have clear ownership.

That mindset carries into my personal projects too. I have built an air-quality forecasting system designed to prevent data leakage, a productivity app where task prioritisation stays deterministic even when an ML model is involved, and several backend and AI applications from APIs to document processing and RAG systems.

I graduated third in my Software Engineering batch from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology with a 3.81 CGPA.

I am currently looking for a backend or full-stack engineering role where I can build production software, keep learning, and take responsibility for the systems I work on.

Effective Risk Management

Software Engineering Intern

  • Built five full-stack products, covering disclosure benchmarking, emerging-risk outlook, third-party risk, internal delivery tooling and a digital learning and commerce platform.
  • Shipped Practicable, a marketplace on a 42-table PostgreSQL schema with 157 REST endpoints, Stripe webhook fulfilment and 582 backend tests, where a single entitlement gate decides all access.
  • Developed two deterministic risk-scoring engines with AI-assisted features, keeping rule-based scoring separate from controlled LLM usage.
  • Built a resumable SEC EDGAR pipeline processing 10-K filings into risk factors and classifications against an ISO-aligned taxonomy.
  • Implemented JWT and role-based access control, audit logging and backend test coverage across the platform.

10Pearls

Data Science Intern

  • Built an air quality forecasting system producing hourly AQI predictions 72 hours ahead, from a 45-feature representation engineered to be free of look-ahead bias.
  • Benchmarked five models under TimeSeriesSplit cross-validation with automated promotion by a deterministic rule, reaching validation RMSE 3.24 and R² 0.98 with LightGBM.
  • Automated the lifecycle with hourly ingestion and daily retraining workflows, behind a three-tier storage abstraction with failover and a GridFS-backed model registry.

Practicable

A digital product marketplace for risk management professionals, selling courses, practice questions, document templates and reference packs with entitlement-based access granted on purchase.

Engineering focus

Every route into the product - a purchase, an admin grant, a self-serve refund, a chargeback from the Stripe dashboard - has to end at the same answer about who can see what. So access is decided at a single entitlement gate rather than checked ad hoc per endpoint, and certificate issuance is idempotent from both the lesson-completion and quiz-submission paths, so either ordering mints exactly one certificate.

OSINT Third-Party Risk Management

A vendor risk platform that turns a vendor name or domain into evidence-linked risk records, using only lawfully public sources.

Engineering focus

Vendor risk tools tend to return a single opaque number. The design question here was how to keep risk and confidence as separate dimensions, so that a thin evidence base lowers confidence rather than quietly inflating or deflating the risk score - and how to make every record point back to the document it came from.

Emerging Risk Model

An emerging-risk outlook engine that takes an organisation profile - industry, size, geography - and returns board-ready risks with cell-level provenance.

Engineering focus

The central constraint: language models are allowed to classify passages against a closed nine-mechanism vocabulary and verify quotes verbatim, but every numerical score comes from deterministic additive rules over curated modifier cells. This keeps the output reproducible and lets each number be traced to its source passage.

AQI Predictor

An air quality forecasting system for Hyderabad, Pakistan, producing hourly AQI predictions 72 hours ahead through automated collection, daily retraining and an explainable dashboard.

Engineering focus

A time-series model will happily report an excellent score while quietly reading its own answer. Most of the work here went into making that impossible: backward-only causal rolling-median imputation, limited forward-fill windows and shift(1) change-rate baselines, so no feature at time t can observe the target it predicts. The training and inference paths were split into separate feature groups for the same reason - an observed-only historical store and a forecast-weather store - so forecast data can never contaminate training.

FocusAid

A cross-platform ADHD productivity app combining task management, mood-adaptive prioritisation, Pomodoro tracking, gamified rewards and voice-based task capture.

Engineering focus

Generic task apps assume the user can decompose work and judge what to do next. The premise here is that they often cannot - so ordering is computed rather than left to the user, by a deterministic four-factor engine scoring weighted priority, deadline urgency, mood-to-effort match and mood-to-task-type match. Keeping that scoring deterministic matters: the model assists with decomposition, but it never decides what you work on, and when it is unavailable the app degrades to manual entry instead of failing. Decomposition itself meant fine-tuning candidates small enough to serve cheaply behind an ordinary mobile client.
